Writer | Doctor | Budding Public Health Expert

I’m Dr. Glory Ghai, a doctor with a passion for the intersection of law and medicine. I graduated in 2019 and am currently a Junior Resident Doctor at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur. Over the years, I’ve spent countless hours consulting with advocates and legal professionals, helping them understand complex medico-legal reports and navigate the intricate details of medical evidence in legal settings.
Growing up in a family of advocates, I was constantly surrounded by courtroom stories and legal discussions. The anticipation of legal cases and the sharp questioning during cross-examinations fascinated me from an early age. My father, an experienced advocate, would often share the details of his cases, and I would be captivated by the way legal professionals dissected evidence, including medical reports, during trials.
As I began my medical career, I found myself in a unique position to contribute to the legal world. With the knowledge I gained from medical school, I was able to assist advocates in interpreting medico-legal documents more effectively. I realized that many legal professionals lacked a clear understanding of how medical evidence is used in court, and that inspired me to write my book, 15 Things to Know Before You Cross a Doctor.
Through this book, I aim to bridge the gap between law and medicine and help advocates, judges, and police officers better understand medical evidence. It is crucial for all professionals involved in criminal law to know how to approach medical evidence to ensure justice is truly served.
Why I Wrote This Book:
As a doctor and consultant for legal professionals, I’ve seen how critical it is to interpret medical reports correctly. Whether you’re an advocate cross-examining a doctor or a judge trying to make sense of a complex report, having a deeper understanding of medical evidence can make all the difference in the courtroom.
Through my book, I want to empower legal professionals to confidently handle medical evidence, ask the right questions during cross-examination, and avoid common pitfalls that can lead to misinterpretations or misunderstandings in court.
My Mission:
This website is not just about my book; it’s a space where I share valuable insights, articles, and resources related to medico-legal cases. Whether you are a lawyer, a judge, a police officer, or a doctor, I aim to help you better understand how medical evidence can impact the legal system and how you can use it to ensure a fair trial.
